First
established in the late 1920’s, the Seattle branch has nearly 7,000 books,
audiotapes and videos. The lending library is a wonderful resource! Many
subjects are covered in great depth. In addition to the comprehensive Theosophy
collection, the library has many rare and unique books on a wide range of
metaphysical subjects, including comparative religion, mysticism, Buddhism,
Hinduism, Sufism and esoteric Christianity, as well as books on the Celtic
tradition, healing, astrology and meditation, near death experiences, and life
beyond death. Numerology, crystals and the tarot are also represented.
And of course an excellent in depth collection of Theosophical books!
The
lending library is preparing for a new era of activity and regeneration under
head librarian Nancy Lehwalder, with the help of an able group of volunteers. Nancy brings her enthusiasm and willingness to
help us make major changes in our library in the coming year.
We are working to reach the following goals:
Add a quantity of new acquisitions to the collection
Reach out to the larger community and increase our library patron base
To provide online access for patrons researching the availability of Theosophical books nationwide.
To repair, replace and preserve our precious collection of rare ( and many
out of print) gems.
Please ask the librarian for a membership application.
